The vacuum line running from your Kombi valve connects to the port on the electric control valve above the black/white check valve. Remove the cabin air filter housing (T30 screws) and the fuel rail cover (10mm nuts under each of the caps - don't drop these).

Now, that has not solved the many fuel trim and rough running issues with this car. You can see the codes below.

It does look as if the balance shafts are contained within the lower unit that contains the oil pump and the balance shafts.
